Laxapana Falls plunges about 126 metres down the hills near Maskeliya, in one of Sri Lanka's most important watersheds. Beautiful in its own right, it's also historic: the Laxapana area is the heart of the country's hydroelectric power generation, and the river here helps light much of the island.
